Warehouse pirates against larder beetles, carpet beetles & co. – biological pest control
Warehouse pirates (Xylocoris flavipes) are beneficial insects that feed on the eggs, larvae, and pupae of stored product and material pests such as larder beetles, fur beetles, carpet beetles, and flour beetles. They offer a biological alternative to chemical treatments in kitchens, cupboards, and storage areas and are harmless to humans, pets, and the environment.
Warehouse pirates against larder beetles: The damage occurs before you even see the beetle
You see the beetle last. Before that, the larvae have been there for months: larder beetle larvae in pet food, fats, and dry goods; fur and carpet beetle larvae in wool, feathers, and upholstery; flour beetles in your flour stash. They hide in cracks, under baseboards, and behind cupboards—places that are neither vacuumed nor checked. They don't need moisture, and they don't need an open package.
Where warehouse pirates are particularly suitable against carpet beetles
The most important areas for use are those where chemicals are not an option. Kitchens and pantries where open food is stored. Closets and textiles where fur and carpet beetle larvae reside. Under carpets and in upholstery, which is why warehouse pirates are used against carpet beetles even in areas without food storage. Attics, where infestations often go unnoticed for a long time. And warehouses and commercial spaces where large areas are involved. One unit with 30 beneficial insects covers approximately 15 square meters.
What warehouse pirates do against storage beetles on the shelf
Xylocoris flavipes is a predatory bug, less than three millimeters in size, that hunts actively. It scours cracks, shelves, and packaging edges, finds eggs, larvae, and pupae, and eats them. This prevents the next generation from emerging, rather than just eliminating individual beetles. Warehouse pirates against storage beetles therefore work by disrupting their developmental cycle. They are harmless to humans and pets and do not touch food or textiles. Once there is nothing left for them to eat, they die off without leaving any residues behind.
When warehouse pirates are the right choice
Choose warehouse pirates if you have larder, fur, carpet, or flour beetles in your kitchen, pantry, closet, attic, or storage area and are working in rooms where sprays and poisons are not suitable. They are the right choice if there are children, pets, or open food nearby. And they are the right choice if you want to target the eggs, larvae, and pupae, not just the beetles themselves.
When warehouse pirates will not help against carpet beetles
There is no immediate effect. The beneficial insects work through the developmental stages over several weeks, and success is visible when the next generation fails to appear. Below 20 °C, warehouse pirates do not become properly active, so they are not worth using in cold attics or unheated warehouses; activity also decreases below 40 percent humidity. Using insecticides or diatomaceous earth in parallel will render the beneficial insects ineffective. The surface area must also be correct: one tube spread over 40 square meters is useless; you will need several in that case.
🌿 Conclusion: With GREEN GUARDIA warehouse pirates, you can combat larder, fur, carpet, and flour beetles biologically—at all developmental stages, residue-free, and safely for your kitchen, closet, and storage areas.

Geeignete Einsatzbereiche

FAQ Warehouse pirates
Do you have questions about our products, their application or shipping? Here you can find the most important answers at a glance. If something remains unclear, please feel free to contact us!

Warehouse pirates (Xylocoris flavipes) are tiny predatory bugs, about 2–3 mm in size, that specifically feed on the eggs, larvae, and pupae of larder beetles, carpet beetles, fur beetles & co. – all naturally and without chemicals.
The beneficial insects interrupt the pest life cycle by consuming their developmental stages. This significantly reduces or completely stops the population.
No, warehouse pirates are completely harmless to humans, pets and food. They leave no residues and disappear when there is no more food left.
They are effective against larder beetles, red flour beetles, carpet beetles, fur beetles and other stored product and material pests.
Yes, they are very suitable for kitchens, pantry cupboards, living rooms, bedrooms or attics – anywhere where pests occur.
As long as they find food, they remain active and even reproduce. Once the pests disappear, the warehouse pirates also disappear naturally.
Per tube, we always supply more than 30 beneficial insects to compensate for losses during transport and guarantee full effectiveness.
No – they contain eggs in various developmental stages. The larvae hatch in the following days.
If necessary, please send us an email and we will review your request.
Shipping takes place on business days within 1–3 days. In case of high temperatures or extreme frost, delays may occur to protect the beneficial insects.
Yes, they have already hatched and are ready to use. They leave the tube independently as soon as you open it at the application site.
Please contact us immediately within 24 hours with a photo. We will find a solution quickly and send free replacements if necessary.
Open the tube directly after receipt at the location of the infestation (e.g., carpet, closet, pantry drawer) and place it there horizontally. The insects will leave it independently.
For small areas of approx. 15m², 1 tube is usually sufficient. For larger areas or multiple infestation sites, we recommend placing several tubes in a targeted manner.
First successes are often seen after a few days; the complete reduction of the pests takes 2–4 weeks depending on the severity of the infestation.
The warehouse pirates leave the tube independently as soon as they smell food. The tube should remain lying horizontally and undisturbed.
Yes. The insects do not attack surfaces or materials – they specifically search for pests and disappear afterwards without leaving any residue.
Please not directly near the tube – vacuum cleaners or chemical cleaning agents could impair their effectiveness.
That is a good sign: when no more pests are present, the warehouse pirates retreat or die off. No further action is required.
Yes, a combination with trichogramma wasps or other beneficial insects is possible – especially in cases of mixed pest infestation.
Ideally, use them immediately. Short-term storage at 8–12 °C is possible for a max. of 1–2 days.
No – chemical agents (including diatomaceous earth) are taboo, as they would also kill the warehouse pirates.
Regular ventilation, thorough cleaning, airtight packaging of food or textiles as well as preventive use of warehouse pirates help.
Yes – they are ideal for supermarkets, bakeries, museums, textile warehouses or food businesses where chemical-free solutions are in demand.
